Book Reviews

In this space I will compile summaries of the books I read. My favorite German professor drilled into me, in my junior year, that the four most important things anyone needs to know about any book are almost always found in the introduction. These four things are in addition to the who, what, when, and where, which should go without saying, and they are: 1) topic, 2) thesis, 3) methodology, and 4) historiography. So, in an effort to keep my thoughts sorted and in one place, I will post my book reviews here. Also, I will organize them according to fairly broad categories, for now. As I post more reviews, the categories will narrow.

History

Inter-war

Bloodlands, Europe between Hitler and Stalin, Timothy Snyder

Stalin’s Genocides, Norman M. Naimark

Digital Humanities
